MIDDLE EAST PEACE HANGS ON SYRIA

SYRIAN troops have overrun rebel positions in Aleppo in the battle to defeat the imperialist-backed militias that are taking the country to the brink of civil war. Syrian tanks have broken through the front line in the rebel-held district of Aleppo and a number of Turkish and Saudi officers have been captured during the fighting.

Osborne still getting his sums wrong

THE GOVERNOR of the Bank of England, Mervyn King, last Wednesday announced that the British economy is not expected to grow at all this year — after having predicted three months ago it would grow by 0.8 per cent.
