The Syrian Arab Army swept through the terrorist-held enclave of Eastern Ghouta last week, freeing innocent civilians that the terror gangs used as human shields and uncovering stashes of poison-gas that the terrorists had prepared for another false-flag attack to provide the pretext for imperialist intervention.
Meanwhile the imperialist lie-machine churns out the usual lies about chemical weapons, starving civilians and Syrian army “atrocities”, whilst saying nothing about the plight of the tens of thousands of Kurds trapped in Afrin by Turkish forces that have now encircled the capital of the Kurdish autonomous province in northern Syria.
At the United Nations (UN) the Americans are once again threatening to intervene to “save” civilians that they claim are being targeted by the Syrian army and air-force. But Russia warned it will hit back if any of their peace-keepers, servicemen or military advisers are touched.
The US ambassador to the UN, the odious Nikki Haley, said on Monday that the USA was willing to take military action to end the Syrian bombing of civilians if the UN was unable to do so. “When the international community consistently fails to act, there are times when states are compelled to take their own action,” Haley told the UN Security Council.
But the Kremlin will strike back if the lives of Russian servicemen in Syria are put in jeopardy, General Valery Gerasimov, the Chief of the Russian General Staff, said. “In the event of a threat to the lives of our servicemen, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation will retaliate against both missiles and the delivery vehicles used,” Gerasimov said in a conference call shown by the Russia 24 TV channel.
He said the Russian General Staff had reliable information that the terrorists were preparing a provocation in Eastern Ghouta, staging the use of chemical weapons against civilians by the Syrian government forces.
The Russian general said that a large number of women, children and old people had been brought to the area, on the outskirts of Damascus, from other regions to play the “role of victims” of a poison gas attack, as well as film crews with satellite video broadcasting equipment.
After the provocation, the USA plans to accuse Syrian government troops of using chemical weapons, and then to bomb and rocket government districts in Damascus. Russian military advisers, representatives of the Centre for Reconciliation of Warring Parties and military police are stationed in the offices and facilities of the Syrian Defence Ministry in the Syrian capital, and if any of them are hurt the repercussions could lead to a direct clash between Russia and the USA. Meanwhile civilians who have managed to escape Ghouta through the humanitarian corridors set up by the Syrian army are starting to tell their own stories of the years-long brutal occupation by the sectarian Muslim gunmen who are armed and financed by the USA, Turkey and the feudal Arab sultans of oil.
One said: “The terrorist organisations that have taken over Ghouta’s towns for years, have been clearly working for the benefit of foreign parties. They, the terrorists, compelled civilians by force of arms to stay inside Ghouta to use them as human shields and to give the world a false impression that they have popular and mass support.” Stories may differ but all of them share one fact — that Ghouta residents suffered a lot. They were under the control of terrorists who prevented them from leaving and looted their food, humanitarian aid and medicine to sell on the black market.
A woman evacuated from Douma said that all the humanitarian aid provided by the Syrian government and the Red Crescent was seized by the terrorists who then sold them at extortionate prices to the desperate people under their control.
Those who have managed to run the gauntlet of sniper fire to get through the safe corridors have been transferred to makeshift shelters equipped with food and medicines.
The truth will eventually reveal itself and another page of the story of the atrocities committed by the terror gangs has been opened up by testimonies of the Ghouta survivors. <
