SYRIAN air defence forces are on high alert following reports that the imperialists are planning to stage another fake poison gas attack in the rebel-held Idlib region to provide them with a pretext for another attack against the country. The imperialists say they will take military action again if Syria uses chemical weapons in the coastal province that has, until now, relied on Turkish protection to keep the Syrian army at bay. the Turks following Turkey’s decision to ignore American objections and buy a Russian S-400 missile defence system
Last week the Russians revealed that a false flag chemical weapon attack against civilians was being prepared in Idlib in order to blame Damascus and give the USA and its allies a pretext for a punitive strike against Syria. Russian sources say that British agents, working hand in glove with the bogus White Helmets ‘rescue teams’ are preparing the ground whilst the Americans assemble a new strike force to hit the Syrians.
According to Major-General Igor Konashenkov, “English-speaking specialists” are already operating in southern Idlib. “Preparations are being made for a group of residents brought from the north of the province to participate in the staging of an ‘attack’ of allegedly chemical munitions and bombs by Syrian government forces, staged assistance by mimicked ‘rescuers’ from the White Helmets and the shooting of a video for distribution to the Middle East and English-language media,” he said.
At the same time, an American warship has been sent to the Persian Gulf, a Lancer strategic bomber deployed to an air base in Qatar and an American missile destroyer carrying 28 Tomahawk cruise missiles is now in the eastern Mediterranean. The Americans could now launch at least 84 Tomahawk cruise missiles and 24 joint air-to-surface stand-off missiles if it were to decide to strike Syria now. strengthened
Meanwhile, the Russian naval task force off the Syrian coast has been strengthened with the arrival of two frigates from the Black Sea. Both warships carry Kalibr cruise missiles and surface-to-air missile systems. The task force near Syria currently consists of at least 16 warships and submarines, including three frigates and three corvettes all armed with Kalibr missiles.
The city of Idlib and the surrounding area has been controlled by sectarian Muslim militias including the Muslim Brotherhood, ISIS and the Syrian wing of Al Qaida since 2015. The gunmen receive regular supplies of NATO arms and funds through neighbouring Turkey, which has imposed a virtual protectorate over this coastal province.
The Turks say that any military attempt to restore government control of the province could lead to a “massacre” and millions more refugees.
“A military solution here would be a disaster, not just for the Idlib region, but a disaster in terms of Syria’s future,” Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu declared following talks in the Kremlin with the Russian leadership. But US imperialism can no longer count on .
At the United Nations the Russian representative said that the terror gangs were holding over two million people in Idlib hostage and preventing them from leaving. Vasily Nebenzya said that the White Helmets had transported two toxic gas containers in Idlib province to add to eight more already there, to use them against civilians in order to justify a new aggression by Washington, London and Paris on Syria. The Russian diplomat warned against new western aggression on Syria based on fabricated news and allegations, and stressed that the Syrian army does not possess any chemical weapons.
Nebenzya said that the illegal presence of the US forces in northern Syria violates the country’s sovereignty whilst the international anti-ISIS coalition led by Washington attempts to control the country’s resources. This colonial policy, he said, continues with the aim of dividing Syria instead of focusing on political settlement and counter-terrorism efforts in the country
