On page nine readers will see that the BBC has brought into being an entirely new BBC Channel for Scotland which has an annual budget of £32 million. The New Worker could make much use of that sort of money. We could have a twenty page daily broadsheet. In the meantime our more modest budget weekly Marxist-Leninist weekly provides better quality news and views from around the globe than come from Broadcasting House.
Many thanks to those who boosted the New Worker fighting fund by £753 to £2,350. This included £40 from West Yorkshire. Hopefully this will inspire someone in North Yorkshire to further diminish that county’s reputation for being tight-fisted. But the Manchester reader who added £20 to their renewed subscription and the Arsenal supporter who sent in £15 in appreciation of Bob Treasure’s article on Capitalism and Sport are among those who deserve our warmest thanks as do those who have regular standing orders which keep us afloat.
