May Torn to Shreds

MRS MAY’S Brexit deal was torn to shreds this week when MPs threw out the latest version of the departure plan by 149 votes on Tuesday. Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn says the PM’s plan had been “decisively rejected” and she needs to change course.

The European Union’s Economic Commissioner Pierre Moscovici said that the UK parliament has missed its “last chance” to reach a Brexit agreement. “We have done everything we could do,” Moscovici told the media. And Brussels’ chief negotiator, Michel Barnier, says the EU “cannot go any further” in trying to persuade MPs to back the agreed terms of exit and the UK had to break the impasse.

Letter from Venezuela

A Letter from Venezuela was screened at the Bolívar Hall in London last week. It is an inspiring film which shows that, despite systematic sabotage and violence, the support for Maduro and the Bolivarian revolution is a mass phenomenon, and full of energy and determination. The soon-to-released film was directed by Carolina Graterol, who lives in London and who visited Venezuela after several years away when her sister died of malaria.

Stand by Venezuela!

THE AMERICAN cyber-attack on Venezuela’s national power grid is the latest chapter in the less than covert attempt by US imperialism to bring down the Maduro government and destroy the Bolivarian revolution.

Most of Venezuela was blacked-out for nearly four days, bringing the country’s embattled economy to a near standstill. Although power is now returning, reactionary American politicians have rushed to celebrate the imperialist sabotage that deprived the population of an essential basic service, left hospitals without the power they require to work and disrupted other basic services that are indispensable in the everyday-life of the masses such as food, water supply, transportation, communications, public safety, trade, bank transactions and payments using credit cards. The sabotage perpetrated against the power supply system in Venezuela was an act of terror against the defenceless population of an entire nation, turning it into a hostage of the non-conventional war launched by US imperialism against the legitimate government of Nicolás Maduro and the civic and military union of the Bolivarian and Chavista people..
