No US attack on Iran!

THE AMERICANS have placed all their forces in Iraq and Syria on high alert and ordered all non-emergency diplomatic staff to leave Iraq, heightening fears that Washington is readying for a direct strike on the Islamic Republic of Iran. The USA has also increased its military build-up in the Gulf by deploying an aircraft carrier, bombers and anti-missile systems there, in response to an alleged threat from Iran.

Sticky situation in the West Country

IN THE West Country 65 workers at Trelleborg Sealing Solutions in Bridgwater are taking strike action for three days later this month and in early June over what Unite the union call a “paltry pay offer”, despite productivity being said to have “gone through the roof”. They will strike for three days over a “paltry” pay offer after talks “hit a brick wall”.

For a united Ireland and lasting peace

THE continuing Brexit saga has, at least as far as the mainstream media is concerned, reduced the crisis in the north of Ireland to the question of the ‘back-stop’ and what the future relationship between the Six Counties, Britain and the European Union (EU) will be in the future. Whilst the absurdity of the Government being held to ransom by sectarian bigots has not escaped the notice of some of the bourgeois pundits, none of these gurus actually question the fundamental cause of the problem, which is the partition of Ireland by British imperialism.

Farage marches on

Nigel Farage’s new Brexit Party is clearly dominating the debate, such as it is, over the farcical European elections that take place later in the month. Despite a fig-leaf of support from veteran campaigner George Galloway and a handful of former Trotskyites who have made their name in the bourgeois media, Farage’s platform is essentially like the UKIP of old.
