Brexit now! Never mind about a “good deal”!

BORIS JOHNSON flies to Brussels this week for last minute talks to end the deadlock over the Brexit departure terms and agree a new trade deal with the European Union. Brexit divorce talks began when the UK left the EU on 31st January, but they’ve stalled on a number of key issues including British fishing rights and the maintenance of the open border between British-occupied Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, which remains within the European bloc.

Lo and No Pay Rises

UNIONS in the Further Education (FE) sector in England are less than delighted by the fact that the employer’s Association of Colleges (AoC) has offered a magnificent one per cent pay rise.

Light at the end of the tunnel?

THE FIRST doses of the coronavirus vaccine have arrived from the Belgian laboratories to kick-start a mass COVID-19 vaccination programme that has raising hopes of a return to some sort of normality by the spring of next year. The Government has secured 40 million doses of the vaccine, enough to treat 20 million people in the coming months. The Pfizer/BioNTech jab is likely to be followed speedily by the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine, which may be approved for NHS use by Christmas.
