Tension rises between Ukraine and Donbas

TENSION continues to rise along the cease-fire line between Ukraine and the breakaway people’s republics of the Donbas following the downing of a Ukrainian drone by the anti-fascist militias whilst Franco-German diplomatic efforts continue to try to defuse the crisis in eastern Europe.

Construction News

UNITE and other unions in the construction industry recently submitted a 10 per cent pay claim to the Construction Industry Joint Council (CIJC) in a bid to reverse pay cuts and to compensate for the rising inflation rate. The union argues that the £110 billion per annum industry can easily afford this claim and that bosses need to start offering decent wages to attract new starters.

SOME Colombians say their civil war has gone on for so long that most of the fighters now have no idea what started it in the first place. That’s perhaps not surprising, given that it began in 1957. Boris Johnson, however, has no such excuse.

Johnson’s brief premiership has been marked by a seemingly endless round of scandals. For once, Amnesty International has got it right. Amnesty has published a 280-page report detailing 'Israel’s apartheid against Palestinians: a cruel system of domination and a crime against humanity', for which 'Israeli authorities must be held accountable'.
