RUSSIAN MISSILES ROCK UKRAINE

RUSSIAN missiles have rocked Ukraine this week to avenge the bombing of the Crimea Bridge that killed three people and caused a partial collapse of the main road and rail link between Crimea and the Russian mainland. Eight saboteurs have been arrested over the explosion last Saturday that the Russians say was organised by Ukrainian intelligence.

State of the Nation

ACCORDING to no less an organisation than the Office of National Statistics (ONS) workers in the UK suffered a 2.9 per cent decline in real pay in the three months from June to August due to inflation. This came even after a six per cent growth in average pay including bonuses and 5.4 per cent excluding bonuses.

For a just and lasting peace

TRADE UNIONS are being urged to support the Stop the War conference in January specifically aimed at mobilising working people around “every effort... to pursue peaceful relations between countries through negotiations and disarmament”. The World at War conference that is open to all trade unionists takes its lead from the resolution passed at this year’s RMT national conference which rightly said that “workers have no interest in war with China, Russia, or any other country. Every effort should be made to pursue peaceful relations between countries through negotiations and disarmament”.
