Airport news

ANOTHER substantial pay rise has been won by Unite on behalf of 50 American Airlines aircraft maintenance technicians and crew chiefs at London’s Heathrow Airport. The three year deal is worth 19 per cent. This is composed of seven per cent for 2022, six per cent for 2023 and six per cent for 2024, a much better offer than the original one.

TRADE UNIONS are not just about wages, and to prove it the Communication Workers Union (CWU) has been claiming a great victory at the recently merged Virgin Media O2 (VMO2) where it has secured 10 per cent pay rise, and has forced VMO2 to “significantly improve its family friendly offering to employees”.The latest deal was supported by 85.7 per cent of those voting.

JEREMY CORBYN joined protesters in Westminster last weekend to demonstrate against the extradition of Julian Assange. The former Labour leader joined left-wing comedian Russell Brand, retired union leader Len McCluskey and thousands of other Assange supporters to form a human chain outside Parliament that stretched from its perimeter railings and across Westminster Bridge to the other side of the River Thames.
