While the great and the good shed crocodile tears over the carnage in Lebanon and the Gaza Strip, the Israelis continue their genocidal war safe in the knowledge that they can always count on the Americans to back them up, regardless of the consequences. And those consequences include an Israeli attack on Iran that could set the entire region ablaze or even trigger a new world war.
Starmer can say what he likes about an end to the fighting and a “two-state” solution but nothing’s going to happen while Britain continues to pump arms to the Zionist entity. Starmer bleats on about Israel’s “right to defend itself” while imposing new sanctions on Iran to appease his masters in Washington.
That’s why the boycott campaign and the mass movement on the street is vital to mobilise public opinion in solidarity with the Palestinians. The Labour and Tory leaders blindly follow the American line but a substantial minority of MPs on the opposition benches have taken the principled stand in support of the Palestinians. While the jobsworths and bureaucrats in the labour movement turn a blind eye to what’s going on in the Middle East the rankand-file are joining the mass movement to end the war that is sweeping the country. The conflict will only end when the legitimate rights of the Palestinians are restored including the right to return and the right to self-determination and independence Let them hear it in Washington – let them hear it in Tel Aviv!
