Amnesty sings the imperialist tune

THE IMPERIALISTS can always count on the human rights gang to churn out atrocity and war-crimes stories to justify embargo, blockade and military aggression against any country that dares to stand on its own feet and challenge the capitalist new world order. Amnesty International is no exception.

Last week Amnesty accused Syria of mass murder and torture of prisoners from 2011—2015 in a report that has been relayed approvingly around the world by mass media of the imperialist heartlands. Entitled Human Slaughterhouse: Mass Hangings and Extermination at Saydnaya Prison, the report claims that the Syrian security services carried out mass torture and the arbitrary execution of prisoners at the Saydnaya prison outside Damascus.

Neither the Syrian government nor the political and social movements that support the government were consulted.

Needless to say, the report’s conclusions are not based on primary sources, material evidence or their own staff. They are based solely on the claims of anonymous individuals living in Turkey who are mostly supporters of the terrorist militias that are less than covertly funded and armed by the NATO powers and the feudal Arab oil princes.

Amnesty has got past form on this. During the run-up to the first Gulf war following the Iraqi take-over of Kuwait in 1990, Amnesty International “corroborated” the false story that Iraqi soldiers were stealing incubators from Kuwaiti hospitals leaving the babies to die on the cold floor. During the imperialist onslaught against Libya in 2011, Amnesty equally falsely claimed that Gaddafi was using mercenaries to threaten and kill peacefully protesting civilians.

The motive and timing of the publication of this report, which is little more than a tissue of lies, is aimed at discrediting the efforts of Russia, Syria and its neighbours to end the fighting through reconciliation, and to boost the flagging morale of the terrorist fanatics who have been dealt hammer blows by the Syrian Arab Army and the Russian air-force in recent months.
