...and in Iraq

WHEN the Russian air-force stepped in to help the Syrian government repel the onslaught of ISIS, the Muslim Brotherhood and their cohorts we were swamped with tales of thousands of innocent civilians killed by indiscriminate bombing. Even though these reports all came from imperialist news agencies and reactionary Arab sources like the rubbishy Aljazeera network, they were treated as gospel by the ‘human rights’ gang and those Tory, Labour and Liberal-Democrat politicians who do the Americans’ bidding in Parliament.

The United Nations Office for the Co-ordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) blasted the Russians, whose alleged “selfish, inhuman interests have trumped the moral and humanitarian imperative”.

Last December Theresa May joined Barack Obama and the leaders of France, Germany, Canada and Italy jointly to condemn Russia over its role in what they called the “humanitarian disaster...taking place before our very eyes” in Aleppo.

Needless to say they sang a different song when US jets raided ISIS-held Mosul earlier in the month leaving hundreds of civilians dead in the rubble.

When asked about the loss of civilian life, the US Secretary of Defence Jim Mattis told reporters that the US-led coalition goes out of its way “to always do everything humanly possible to reduce the loss of life or injury among innocent people. The same cannot be said for our adversaries”. Don’t hold your breath for the British response.
