Israeli and American missiles struck Iran in a treacherous onslaught on Saturday. While efforts to end the crisis continued in Geneva the missiles of the imperialists and their Zionist lackeys rained down on the Islamic Republic, with the first wave targeting ministries and government bunkers in Tehran in a bid to knock out the leadership. The Iranian president and other top leaders have, however, remained unscathed as their country hits back after this cowardly attack.
Russia has condemned the US-Israeli strikes on Iran, which they said was a “premeditated and unprovoked act of aggression”. The Foreign Ministry in Moscow said that the scale of military, political and media preparations preceding the strikes, including the buildup of a large US military presence in the region, left little doubt that the operation had been planned in advance and violated fundamental principles of international law. And the Iranians have called on the United Nations to condemn the aggression of the USA and Israel, while warning that all assets in the region linked to Israel and the USA will now be considered legitimate military targets.
Ranting on social media, Donald Trump said the decision to launch a major military operation against Iran was because the Islamic Republic was developing “long-range missiles that can now threaten our very good friends and allies in Europe, our troops stationed overseas and could soon reach the American homeland. They rejected every opportunity to renounce their nuclear ambitions, and we can’t take it anymore.” Almost at the same time, the Israeli leader, Benjamin Netanyahu, issued a video message saying that the operation was launched “to remove the existential threat” posed by the Islamic Republic, and “create the conditions” for Iranians to change their destiny.
In Tel Aviv, an Israeli security official said the aggression was co-ordinated with the USA, adding that the operation had been planned for months and that the date of the attack was decided weeks in advance. Back in the Kremlin Dmitri Medvedev, the deputy chairman of Russia’s Security Council and a close ally of Vladimir Putin, said “the ‘peacemaker’ has once again shown his true colours. All negotiations with Iran were a cover operation. No one doubted that.”
On social media, Donald Trump said “our objective is to defend the American people by eliminating threats from the Iranian regime”. The man who only recently called himself the “president of peace” vowed to “destroy their missiles and raze their missile industry to the ground…we are going to annihilate their navy. We are going to ensure that the region’s ‘terrorist’ proxies can no longer destabilise the region or the world…they will never have a nuclear weapon. This regime will soon learn that no one should challenge the strength and might of the United States Armed Forces.”
Well, we’ll see about that in due course as Iran strikes back launching dozens of ballistic missiles towards Tel Aviv and Haifa as well as American bases in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Ku wait, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.
