RAIL unions last week warned that plans by the Con-Dem Coalition to reform the rail industry could cost more than 20,000 jobs and have come together to an Action for Rail campaign, which was launched with a Day of Action on Monday, with 100,000 leaflets given out at major railway stations throughout the country.

Syria: imperialist moves rebuffed

NEW imperialist moves to get United Nations approval for Nato aggression in Syria have been again been rebuffed by the Russians, who are stressing their continuing support for the efforts of UN envoy, Kofi Annan, and his six-point plan to end the violence.

IN MEMORY OF Otto Cahn
Otto Friedrich Cahn was born 5th March 1921 in Frankfurt. He was forced to leave Germany with the rise of Hitler, and together with his brother sailed for England in 1939, supported by the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers). He liked to recall his time as an agricultural worker in East Anglia.
